Hi there,
I am heading into my 9th year at Burlington Central. I was born and raised in Burlington, so what an experience to be teaching at the oldest school in our city. I started off as a core teacher 16 years ago, but in the last several years I've been lucky enough to focus on math/science. This is perfect as I not only majored in math/science at University...but they are also my passions!
Another big part of my school life has always been the extra-curriculars. In my first year at Central our Boys' Basketball Team went on to be West Halton Champions. In 2011, Mrs. Thomas and I watched our Girls' Volleyball team win the West Halton Championship. I've also run the "Howie Mac Cup" soccer tournament alongside Mr. Glass for the past 9 years. In 2016, my girls and Mr. Glass' boys were finalists...pretty amazing accomplishments as the tournament involves 12 teams from all across Halton.
My husband and I are blessed with 3 little boys, a seven year old, a five year old and an almost 3 year old. Being a mum has definitely changed how I am as a teacher!
Outside of school I love to: enjoy the outdoors, go up to the Cottage, spend time with my family/friends and run a lot of kilometres.
I believe that every child has the ability to learn. Working alongside my students and their parents, as well as, my colleagues I will do anything I can to help all students be successful. I give respect to all children in my classroom and expect the same in return.
I look forward to an amazing year.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Kokerus
